Daniela Agostinho

Daniela Agostinho is Assistant Professor at the School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, and an independent curator. Her research interests lie in the fields of visual culture, artistic research, cultural theories, feminist and postcolonial studies. Her current work is concerned with surfacing and working through colonial legacies, in particular through artistic practice and engagement with archives.

She is one of the convenors of the research unit “Postcolonial Entanglements” at Aarhus University. She has written for various journals and co-edited the volumes Uncertain Archives: Critical Keywords for Big Data (MIT Press, 2021); (W)archives: Archival Imaginaries, War and Contemporary Art (Sternberg Press, 2020); The Uncertain Image (Routledge, 2019); and Panic and Mourning: The Cultural Work of Trauma (De Gruyter, 2012).

Recent exhibitions include For Alberta and Victor, a collection of conjurings and opacities (solo show by La Vaughn Belle, ARIEL – Feminisms and the Aesthetics, Copenhagen); Chamber (solo show by Igor Jesus, Porto, 2020); 13 Shots, solo show by Aimée Zito Lema (Gulbenkian Museum, 2018) and Artist Film International, group exhibition in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery (MAAT – Museum for Art, Architecture and Technology, 2018). She is a member of the Uncertain Archives research collective and coordinates the research and curatorial project Archival Encounters.
