Giorgia Ravaioli

Giorgia Ravaioli is a PhD candidate in Photography and Visual Culture at the University of Bologna (XXXVI cycle). Her research interests focus on new forms of photographic sedimentation, related aesthetic practices, and critical archival theory in the post-digital era.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities (Modern Literature and Arts) and a Master’s degree in Visual Arts (Photography), both from the University of Bologna. She collaborated with the Photographic Archive (Gabinetto Fotografico) of the Uffizi Galleries, and with the international photography festival SI FEST, co-organising a cycle of seminars, curatorial and editorial initiatives called Casa UniBo, in partnership with QUVI (Arts Department, University of Bologna).

Since 2020, she has been a Junior Fellow of the International Research Centre CFC – Culture Fashion Communication and a Fellow of the Research Centre FAF – Photography Art Feminism. Currently, she is part of the national research project “IFP (Italian Feminist Photography)” (PRIN 2020 winner) carrying out the first comprehensive survey on the contribution of women to the history of Italian photography.
