PARC | Photography and the Archive Research Centre

London College of Communication, London, United Kingdom

PARC was the first of the University of the Arts research centres and is based at the London College of Communication at the Elephant and Castle.

Established in 2004, the Photography and the Archive Research Centre is active in commissioning new projects involving both practice-based and historical research with the subject area of the archive.

Activities since its inception in 2004 have included a yearly programme of six seminars within the centre and a programme at Tate Modern; three study days examining: fashion archives; the Elephant and Castle area and the presence of archives in contemporary culture. The Centre also has worked closely with postgraduate students in the making and curating of exhibitions, study evenings and seminars. PARC has launched Fieldstudy, a twice yearly publication now into its 7th issue.
